Story about Terracotta Boy
Terracotta Soldiers, sublime and ultimate Chinese cultural treasure is a part of the world's cultural heritage. They are one of the icons of China after which whole world recognizes Chinese civilization and culture, but also identifies Chinese people with. When looking at the soldiers from the distance, likewise observing the crowd in a train station, they all look the same, but on a closer look, one realizes how every and each of them has different face, different destiny and different personal story embedded into terracotta clay. For every artist it is a big and irresistible invitation to start exploring and digging out hidden life behind the masks made of terracotta clay.
Theme
Terracotta Soldiers are one of the highlights of Chinese cultural history, known all around the world. When looking them from the distance, they all look the same, but when you come closer, you notice that all and every soldier has different face, different character and different destiny. The symbolism of Terracotta Army and the identification of the soldiers with people are used in the performance as a metaphor to talk about the group and individual identity and the quest of every individual for his/hers inner self that will allow the individual better understanding and better inclusion in the society. Only persons that are integrated and deeply rooted in their own culture, only those with clear national identity and proud of it can find their individual identity and as such be equal part of the globalized world.
